                              Soybean Insects

We hope that your summer has been relaxing & enjoyable, and that the continuing challenges of this growing season have been manageable.  In this edition of the igronomy flash we thought we would try something new, a video.  Please click on the link below to view this timely information about soybean insects. The video is approximately 4 minutes in length.

In the video Ryan mentions an economic threshold for soybean pod feeding.  He has suggested that farmers should consider creating their own economic threshold that is more current for today's market conditions.  Obviously you would want to consider the cost of a treatment and the value of soybeans at today's prices.  Below are some facts to help you determine the level of damage.

1 bushel per acre of loss has occurred if:

·         5 seeds per foot of row are lost in 15" rows

·         3.5 seeds per foot of row are lost in 10" rows

·         2.5 seeds per foot of row are lost in 7.5" rows
